What to bring to most of Gunnel’s Workshops:
(for some of the workshops there will be a separate supply list)
-Up to 5 yards of pre-washed white 100% cotton fabric for printing
(rayon, linen, silk or other natural fibres optional)
- Cotton T-shirt, place mats etc. (optional)
- Apron and Rubber Gloves
-Empty containers with lids (e.g. small yogurt containers or other i
inexpensive containers)
-Lunch
-Enthusiasm

About Owner and Instructor: Gunnel Hag...
•Gunnel Hag is an enthusiastic, innovative and creative teacher.
•She studied Textiles at Stockholm University, Sweden and the Royal College of Art, London, England.
•For over thirty years she has owned and operated Trees Textile Designers and Printers in Toronto, currently producing printed and dyed fabrics for film and theatre companies in Canada and the United States.
•Her clothing and interior fabrics have been represented at International Design exhibitions. She has received many grants and awards for her work, including OAC grants and a Ministry of Industry and Trade Award.
•Gunnel was a professor in the Textile Studio at Sheridan College, School of Craft and Design in Oakville, Ontario for twelve years. In 2002 she was a visiting lecturer at the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad, India.
•Gunnel has published two books: ‘Creating Texture’ and ‘Creating Texture: Soft Textures.
•Her concern with health and safety, both in her studio and in the classroom, has led Gunnel to actively promote the water based Colour Vie Pigment System for the past twenty years.
About Pam Woodward...
•Pam Woodward is a textile artist who has worked in theatre, film, and television costuming for over 40 years.
•She has specialized in surface design techniques including dyeing, painting, embellishments, and fabric manipulation.
•She has taught breakdown, the ageing and distressing of costumes,
as part of Seneca College’s post diploma Film Wardrobe program

“PAINT, PRINT AND DYE" with Gunnel Hag
Saturday April 4, 2020: 10 a.m. to 4. p.m.
Spend a day exploring the use of pigments on fabric, learn how to make stamps and how to dye and paint your way to fabulous cloth. You will manipulate texture and colour with the goal of establishing your own unique line of fabrics. Imagine the opportunity for creating personal statements on fabrics that you can use in your textile projects.

“GUERILLA SCREEN PRINTING ON FABRIC”with Gunnel Hag
April 18 - 19, 2020: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Are you interested in home decorating, quilting or fashion? If you want to print your own images on fabric, this workshop is for you!
Create and print simple motifs as well as designs with fine and detailed imagery, which you can then repeat over and over to print your own unique yardage.
This intensive screen printing workshop will take you from the basics to photo emulsion screens in two inspiring days.
-Workshop includes Colour Vie pigments, acetates and emulsion used in class, and one silk screen - yours to take home after the workshop,
so you can continue printing for as long as you wish.
-Workshop is limited to 6 students.

“THE WORLD OF INDIGO” with Pam Woodward
May 23 - 24, 2020: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Indigo dyes have been used around the world for centuries. It’s no surprise that the mysteries and magic of indigo have held a special fascination for dyers, no matter their level of experience. Spend a weekend “getting blue” using a variety of techniques on assorted fabrics. You will be amazed!

“IRRESISTIBLE RESISTS” with Gunnel Hag
May 9, 2020: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Are you ready for a fabric printing adventure? You will use brushes, stamps and tjantings to apply soya wax to your fabric, and learn how to mix pigment colours as well as a variety of techniques for hand painting and dyeing your fabric. The Result: Gorgeous resist printed cloth with exquisite colour and complexity.
-Workshop is limited to 8 students.

“RUST AND BLEACH” with Gunnel Hag
June 6, 2020: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Learn how to use household bleach to create exciting one-of-a-kind fabrics. Explore immersion discharge and direct application discharge while learning in-depth techniques for clamped and tied resists.
AND: Learn how to rust-dye to create unique and sometimes unexpected designs on fabric using rusty objects.

“BORO, THE BEAUTY OF MENDING” with Pam Woodward
April 25 - 26, 2020: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Boro, the Japanese technique of patching and mending the utilitarian textiles of everyday lives, now fascinates textile artists world wide.This class will incorporate techniques of Boro to refurbish worn textiles and explore the making of new textile works. Bring your own worn clothing, home textiles, and scraps of cloth to turn into renewed articles or incorporate into textile art. The time spent together stitching is as much a treasure as your finished article.
- Workshop is limited to 6 students.

Cancellation policy:
If the workshop is cancelled (insufficient attendance) you will receive a full refund. If you must cancel for personal reasons, refunds (minus a $30 administration fee) are given only if you contact us by phone or in writing 10 days before the date of the workshop.
